Using only the highest-quality pure pigment, our A J Ludlow Colours’ Cobalt Violet (Red Shade) powder is suitable for all home-made paint formulations, including water, oil and acrylic colours, as well as solvent-based acrylic or polycarbonate resins.
Grind the pigment with A J Ludlow’s Binder and Painting medium to make home-made watercolours or alternative binding mediums, including drying oils for oil colours and oil-based paints and for three-dimensional work, solvent-based acrylic or polycarbonate resins. For home-made acrylic colours, the pigment should be ground into a wetting and dispersing additive first, in order to stabilise the pigment in the acrylic emulsion.
Cobalt Violet (Red Shade) pigment powder is an inorganic metallic phosphate pigment, triscobalt (II) bis(orthophosphate) octahydrate. The pigment has excellent light fastness, but has a relatively low tinctorial strength and so has a bright and clean pink mass tone.
