This gift bundle would normally retail at £26.56, but we are offering it at £23.50; at a cost saving of just under 12%, makes this gift idea even better!
With respect to the Joseph Gillott Drawing nibs, before use for the first time, it is important to soak the nib in boiling water to remove its protective coating. The watercolour pad comprises of 12 sheets of Bockingford watercolour paper from St Cuthberts Mill. The paper has a weight of 300g/m2 (140lb), which will allow the paper to perform well without requiring stretching, even after multiple washes. It is hot pressed (HP), so has a smooth surface, making it suitable for most types of work, especially involving detail.
The Black Painting and Drawing Ink is ideal for traditional Asian brush art (Chinese ink wash painting, Korean sumuk and Japanese sumi-e ). It is also suitable for drawing, calligraphy, and illustration, including the more modern art-form of creating manga. A J Ludlow Black Painting and Drawing Ink is waterproof and so allows the ink to have watercolour washes painted on top without bleeding. It can be used both pure and diluted with water, on traditional lightweight Xuan , or “rice” paper, smooth medium weight drawing papers or on heavier watercolour papers. Made using an ancient traditional Chinese recipe by a skilled artisan from the best ingredients and finest pigment, the painting and drawing ink has a distinct traditional feel and odour. This type of ink is also known as Chinese ink, Indian ink or India ink. It is not suitable for vegans as it contains ingredients derived from animal origin. The ink has a fluid consistency so it can be used with either brushes or dip pens, but it is not suitable for use with fountain pens. It is recommended that the bottle is well shaken before use and afterwards, immediately clean tools and brushes with water (and soap).
