Finest Quality "Purple Tip" Goat hair brush (Large)

This Chinese brush is suitable for both Chinese brush and Japanese sumi-e painting. It is of the finest quality. It has a “heart” of dark sable hairs, which gives the brush a firm springy tip for great outline painting. Surrounding this “heart” is the absorbent and really soft goat hairs, enabling the brush to hold a lot of ink/paint and so create continuous, flowing brush strokes.

The handle of this brush is made of wood and is perfectly shaped to fit comfortably in the hand for executing fluid brush strokes necessary for Chinese painting and calligraphy. Like most Chinese brushes, this brush has a loop on the end so that it can be hung from a brush stand to help facilitate natural drying.

Drying the brush by hanging in a vertical position helps to prolong its life, because it ensures that the hairs keep their shape once cleaned and shaped and it allows any excess moisture to run out of the head of the brush. This stops the moisture causing any rot/deterioration in the brush head over time.

The amount of colour the bristle can hold and the control whilst painting allows this brush to be suitable for use with A J Ludlow's Professional Watercolour too.
