Using only the highest-quality pure pigment, our A J Ludlow Colours’ Iron Oxide Violet powder is suitable for all home-made paint formulations, including water, oil and acrylic colours, as well as solvent-based acrylic or polycarbonate resins.
Grind the pigment with A J Ludlow’s Binder and Painting medium to make home-made watercolours or alternative binding mediums, including drying oils for oil colours and oil-based paints and for three-dimensional work, solvent-based acrylic or polycarbonate resins. For home-made acrylic colours, the pigment should be ground into a wetting and dispersing additive first, in order to stabilise the pigment in the acrylic emulsion.
Iron Oxide Violet pigment powder has a similar hematite structure to Iron Oxide Red, a synthetic inorganic pigment, ferric oxide, except it’s average particle size is larger and hence has different light diffraction properties. The pigment has excellent light fastness.
