Using only the highest-quality pure pigment, our A J Ludlow Colours’ Phthalocyanine Green (Blue Shade) powder is suitable for all home-made paint formulations, including water, oil and acrylic colours, as well as solvent-based acrylic or polycarbonate resins.
Grind the pigment with A J Ludlow’s Binder and Painting medium to make home-made watercolours or alternative binding mediums, including drying oils for oil colours and oil-based paints and for three-dimensional work, solvent-based acrylic or polycarbonate resins. For home-made acrylic colours, the pigment should be ground into a wetting and dispersing additive first, in order to stabilise the pigment in the acrylic emulsion.
Phthalocyanine Green (Blue Shade) pigment powder is a synthetic halogenated aromatic macrocyclic organo-metallic pigment, copper polychloro-phthalocyanine, with 14 to 15 chloro-substituents at the 16 peripheral reactive sites on the molecule’s four benzene units. Copper polycloro-phthalocyanine has a bluish-green colour which is very similar in hue to Viridian (chromium (III) oxide dihydrate, C.I. pigment green 18) and is often used as a synthetic substitute, albeit in a fairly diluted mixture of pigment and other mineral fillers.
